Have Your Say on Making School Safer
3rd November 2026
Surrey County Council are currently undertaking a consultation on a proposed School Street scheme outside the main entrance to Carrington School.
The proposal would introduce a School Street on Noke Drive (from the junction with Knights Place) and Knights Place, creating a temporary pedestrian and cycle zone during school drop-off and pick-up times. The aim is to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and make journeys to and from school safer for students, families and local residents.
Under the proposal, vehicles would not be permitted to enter the designated area during the restricted times unless they have been granted an exemption. Signs to inform drivers of the restrictions would be installed at the entrance to the road.
The proposed operating times are 8-8:45am and 2:15-3:45pm Monday to Friday, term time only. To enforce this, an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera will be installed on the street with a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) sent to vehicles without a registered exemption entering the School Street during its operational hours.
We encourage all members of our school community to review the proposal and share their views as part of the consultation. Your feedback will help inform the council's decision-making process.

There will also be an in-person drop in consultation evening run by Surrey County Council held at the school on Tuesday 17 November from 5-7pm in Antares.
