Disney Classics, the Carrington Way!

6th November 2023

We finished the half term in style with our Choir of the Year performances from each of the Year 7 Tutor Groups. They chose an exciting selection of numbers from the Disney classics, which included Hakuna Matata from the Lion King, Let it Go from Frozen, and You're Welcome from Moana. The atmosphere was buzzing, as Mr Winter and Miss Hands went head to head in this tense competition.

Although all the performances were distinct and special, showing commitment and flair from the students who had worked hard to bring these pieces together, the stand-out winner was 7 Nightingale with their performance of You've Got a Friend in Me from Toy Story. You can get a taste of each group's song on the edited video below.

Our panel of judges this year included former student, actor and musician Lamar Waves (aka Mark Malomo to us here!). Mark gave our students a touching motivational message about believing in themselves, dreaming big and aiming high, which resonated perfectly with our Carrington values Aspire, Innovate and Respect! Thank you Mark for taking the time to come and visit us and share your story with the young people here.

Later that evening the students had another chance to perform, this time for their parents and carers who came in for our Meet the Tutor event. A superb way to round off the successes of their first half term as Secondary School students - well done, we're proud of you!
