Work has officially begun on the long-awaited refurbishment and enlargement of our Astro pitch, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for sport and physical activity at the school and within the wider community.

The project got underway this week as contractors removed the existing artificial surface, with the old "carpet" carefully lifted and sent for recycling as part of the redevelopment process.

With the first stage now complete, excavation works will begin as preparations are made for a modern new playing surface that will serve students, local sports clubs and community users for years to come.

The refurbishment represents a significant investment in the future of sport at Carrington School, ensuring that students continue to benefit from high-quality facilities that support participation, development and wellbeing through sport. The impact on our local community is also significant, then mention the beneficiaries that are in the email I copied to you earlier…

The project has been made possible thanks to the support of a number of valued partners and funders, including the Football Foundation, Redhill Youth FC, Redhill FC, The Michael and Barbara Bell Foundation, Merstham Glass Ltd, Councillor Jonathan Essex and the Reigate & Banstead Borough Council CIL Fund.

We will continue to share updates as the project progresses and we can't wait to unveil the new facility early next year.
