8s Take on the Great Outdoors

A group of 8s enjoyed an action-packed three-day trip to the New Forest, spending the hot weather camping in tents and taking part in a range of outdoor activities.

The adventurous programme tested students' teamwork and problem-solving skills, particularly during a raft-building challenge where they learned knot-tying techniques before launching their creations onto the lake. Many participants ended up taking an unexpected dip in the water, adding to the fun of the experience.

One of the highlights of the trip was abseiling, where students were encouraged to face their fears and step outside their comfort zones. By the end of the session, many who had initially been nervous were confidently bouncing down the wall.

The group also took part in shelter building, geocaching and trust walks, developing resilience, communication and teamwork throughout the trip.
