Woodfield Education Centre @ Carrington

Woodfield and Carrington: Working Together

The partnership between Woodfield School and Carrington School marked the beginning of a truly inclusive project, reflecting an ethos that is central to both schools.

In September 2023, we opened a Specialist School Satellite Hub, a collaborative initiative developed with Surrey County Council and delivered in partnership with Woodfield School, Carrington School, and South East Surrey Schools Education Trust (SESSET). This expansion created what will be an additional 50 specialist school places for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) by 2027-2028.

Students attending Woodfield Education Centre @ Carrington have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) that identifies the Centre as the most appropriate setting to meet their individual needs. Admissions are managed by Woodfield School.

In order to support inclusion and create a true sense of belonging pupils at Woodfield Education Centre wear the Carrington School uniform.

Initially, students were based at The Lodge on the Carrington School site. In September 2026, the Centre will relocate to Deneb, a fully refurbished building designed specifically to meet the needs of our pupils.

The new accommodation includes:

  • Dedicated teaching classrooms
  • Specialist spaces for personalised support
  • Administrative office facilities
  • Sufficient outdoor areas

Students receive most of their English and Mathematics lessons from Woodfield staff while also benefiting from teaching delivered by Carrington specialist teachers. The wider curriculum includes Science, Music, Drama, Physical Education/Dance and Information Technology lessons on the main school site, enabling students to experience aspects of mainstream education while accessing specialist support from highly trained staff.

Students also benefit from Carrington School's Forest School and unique Excellence Programme, further enriching their educational experience.

By combining Woodfield's motto, "Opening Doors to Success", with Carrington's "Ad Astra" (To the Stars), we have created an environment where students can fulfil their potential within a nurturing, ambitious and supportive community. Together, we bring the very best of both mainstream and specialist schools to provide truly inclusive and exceptional opportunities for every learner.
