From the Classroom to the Commons

20th January 2026

The Supernova group had a fantastic day at the Houses of Parliament yesterday. It was a real privilege to visit such a historic and influential place with our students - what a truly memorable experience for these young future leaders.

During our tour, we explored both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, learning about how laws are made, the history of the Palace of Westminster, and the traditions that continue to shape British democracy today. The students were brilliant - inquisitive, respectful, and full of thoughtful questions. A particular highlight was a personal visit from Rebecca Paul MP, who took the time to speak with our group and answer questions. One of the stand‑out moments was her response to a question about recent MP defections - a great example of how mature and perceptive our students’ enquiries were.

We were also fortunate to watch a live debate on education from the public gallery of the House of Commons. Seeing Parliament in action brought the political process to life in a way no textbook ever could.

Another memorable moment was meeting Sir James Cleverly, who has held several senior Government roles in recent years, including Home Secretary and Foreign Secretary. His presence was an exciting surprise for the students and added even more energy to an already inspiring visit.
