From Sketch to Sculpture
5th June 2025
On Monday, Year 10 GCSE Art students had a fantastic opportunity to work with the resident ceramist from Watts Gallery in a hands-on pottery workshop held right here at school.
During the session, students each designed and created their own clay tile, drawing inspiration from animals and the intricate Celtic patterns they saw during their visit to the Watts Gallery Chapel back in January. With guidance from the professional ceramist, they learned new pottery techniques and explored how to bring their creative ideas to life in clay.
The tiles are now back at Watts Gallery, where they’re being carefully dried and prepared for firing. We can’t wait to see the final results once they’ve been glazed and fired!
