Off the Grid & On the Go: Culture & Challenge '25

1st August 2025

To mark the end of another school year, we once again hit pause on the usual timetable and set off on our annual Culture & Challenge Days - two action packed days where every year group got to ditch the classroom and dive into exciting activities, bond with teachers, and make new friends.

Y7 kicked off C&C with a 9-mile hike through the countryside - it was hot and tiring but the reward was sweet as the next day they had a full day at Chessington World of Adventures. A perfect mix of challenge and excitement!

Y8 swapped textbooks for popcorn at The Light where they had fun bowling, playing pool and darts and finally relaxing in front of a film. Thursday saw a day of Crystal Maze-style games back at school. From puzzle-solving to team challenges, it was all about thinking fast and working together.

Y9 thrill seekers took to the trees for high ropes and zip lines in Go Ape-style adventures, while others hit the water at Mercers Lake for paddleboarding, kayaking, and more. Their second day saw a carousel of activities including Huxleys Talking Reptiles and birds of prey.

Y10 went full throttle with a choice between Thorpe Lakes or go-karting and cinema. From racing around tracks to chilling with a movie, it was the perfect combo of thrill and chill.

These two days weren’t just about having fun (though there was a lot of that) - they were about building community, trying new things, and making memories. A huge thank you to all the staff who made it happen and to every student who got stuck in with enthusiasm!

Here’s to next year’s adventures!
