8s Graduating in Style

6th February 2026

A group of Year 8 students shone brightly this term as they took part in the Surrey Stars initiative, an inspiring programme run by the University of Surrey to introduce young learners to the world of higher education.

Over the course of the project, the group visited the university twice, getting a real taste of campus life. They explored different subjects, tried hands‑on activities, and learned about what studying at university is really like - from lecture halls and student societies to future careers and personal growth. For many, it was their first time setting foot on a university campus, and the experience sparked plenty of curiosity (and hopefully a few new ambitions!).

The programme came to a brilliant end back here at school, where families were invited to attend a special graduation ceremony. Parents and carers gathered to watch as the students proudly walked in wearing their own caps and gowns, looking every bit like future university graduates.

The Surrey Stars initiative has not only given our Year 8s a glimpse into university life but has also boosted their confidence, aspirations, and teamwork skills. A huge well done to all our graduates - you truly are rising stars!
