11s Adventure of a Lifetime
21st July 2025
A small group of 11s have just returned from an unforgettable trip to Cambodia with Adventure Lifesigns, and what an experience it was - from rural village life to city streets, history, and helping hands.
The trip was all about making a difference and stepping outside comfort zones. Students spent time living in a rural village, where they volunteered at a local primary school - helping out with lessons, supporting the children, and getting stuck into community life. It was a powerful opportunity to connect with local people, learn about Cambodian culture, and see first-hand the impact they could make.
But the journey wasn’t just about giving back, it was also about learning. The group visited the haunting Killing Fields and Genocide Museum, gaining a deeper understanding of Cambodia’s tragic past. It was an emotional and important experience that left a lasting impact on everyone.
From there, it was on to the bright lights and buzzing markets of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, where students threw themselves into the fast-paced city atmosphere. They also put their bartering skills to the test in the local markets - sharpening their confidence (and negotiation tactics!) while hunting for souvenirs.
And of course, no trip would be complete without trying the local cuisine; some of which was definitely adventurous! From crispy fried insects to unusual fruits and street food snacks, the students bravely sampled a range of flavors that many of them had never experienced before. It was a fun (and sometimes surprising!) way to get a real taste of Cambodia.
The trip was a brilliant mix of cultural immersion, community service, and adventure: challenging, eye-opening, and incredibly rewarding. A massive well done to all the students who took part, you represented the school with maturity, compassion, and a real sense of global citizenship. Welcome home, adventurers!
